Upon completion of this lesson the learner will:
- Identify the Texas Department of License and Registrations’ (TDLR) definitions of materials, solutions, and disinfectants used for disinfecting and sanitizing cosmetology and manicurist establishments.
- Distinguish which disinfectants are approved by the Texas Department of License and Registrations’ (TDLR) and their proper use in sanitation.
- Describe the procedures necessary to keep the establishment in a sanitary condition.
- Demonstrate how to avoid getting an infection from either a customer or objects in the salon, including objects brought by customers.
- Identify steps and procedures that are necessary to maintain sanitary conditions for both the manicure technician and customer during and after manicure and pedicure services.
- Describe the procedures step by step to maintain foot spas in a sanitary condition and in accordance to the Texas Department of License and Registrations’ (TDLR) standards.
- Show the procedures to correctly clean electric drills and bits.
- Demonstrate how to proceed in case of blood or an open wound.
- Recognize products whose use and application are prohibited.
- Show knowledge of how to keep the establishment clean and sanitized according to TDLR’s rules
- Identify the safety standards required by the Texas Department of License and Registrations’ (TDLR)
